
Knapp Masonry offers over 30 years of expertise in the masonry restoration field. Established part-time in 2003 by Vern and Jennifer Knapp, our company was formally established in March, 2005 in response to increasing customer demand. We specialize in providing restoration and preservation services to the tri-state region. Regardless of the project, we are experienced in filling the needs of our residential, commercial, and institutional clients.
Vern & Jennifer are partners in ownership.
Vern began his career in 1980 working for a reputable masonry restoration firm. Therein he
earned his talents as a craftsman, estimator, and foreman. Vern has maintained this reputation as President,
and chief operations manager of Knapp Masonry, and personally oversees all aspects of every project. He has also
garnered a reputation as a trustworthy and talented representative and hands-on craftsman with renowned
Philadelphia architect's, engineers, and residential clients. He has maintained this integrity
by providing Knapp Masonry's customers' with quality services. Vern also serves as a board member
for the Association for the Preservation of Technology.
Jennifer offers marketing, research, and customer service expertise; also crediting her administrative
experience at the University of Pennsylvania (1981-present). She has actively committed her talents to
Knapp Masonry on a daily basis. She oversees all legal documentation and registration for
the establishment and renewal of the business, and she monitors financial activities, employee benefits, and bid opportunities.
Jennifer especially enjoys overseeing, and actively contributing to, all marketing and communications activities and is also
serving on the Germantown Old House Fair planning committee (Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia).
Vern & Jennifer share a joint ownership in the company. Together, with our family, we've created a company with integrity
and skill to professionally and personally address the restoration needs of our customers.
Our son, Shawn O'Neil, is a talented mechanic with the company, and works and attends schooling on behalf of Knapp Masonry.
Our son, Vern, III, is now employed with the company. He's training with the local Union and is currently pursuing College opportunities in Construction Management/Business. He successfully completed Cathedral Stone's Jahn training, and OSHA's first-aid and safety training.
Our daughter, Brittany Murtha, is a student at Chestnut Hill College majoring in Communications and also currently works at Knapp Masonry in her spare time. She assists with many of the Marketing activities of the company, while also providing administrative assistance. She also maintains her part-time job at the University of Pennsylvania.
Our daughter, Kirsten, previously worked part-time as an office assistant with Knapp Masonry. She chose to serve in our Armed Forces upon graduation from high-school. She is now PFC Knapp, United States Army (Private First Class, PFC; 63 Bravo Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic) - and we're proud that she's now serving in the United States Army and is currently based in Alaska.
Matthew Dempler (Jennie's Brother) works on updating the web site, estimating and photographically documenting jobs at all stages as well as computing and technical work to keep the office running smoothly.
Comptroller, offers accounting and financial expertise and analysis, and long-range projections. He participates extensively with all aspects of the estimating and bid processing.
We are fortunate to have recruited an array of dedicated, enthusiastic, and talented employees. In
addition to working and learning under the tutelage of experienced craftsmen, they are also actively participating in training
programs such as Cathedral Stone's Jahn seminars. Our talented employees are union-affiliated and skilled journeymen and
apprentices. They continue to demonstrate their loyalty and commitment to our philosophy of providing personalized and quality
preservation services.
